The Poverty & Hope Appeal for 2008/9 was launched on 9th September, based on Matthew 25. Each project to be supported linked to one of the five elements – hungry/thirsty, stranger, naked, sick and in prison.

The Canterbury Fairtrade group remain active, with articles appearing in the diocesan newspaper to keep the campaign active. The arrival of communion wine and clerical shirts in particular has enabled churches to engage more fully.

The previous year’s Appeal raised £26,000 for long-term development work.
