I am the parish priest of the very busy seaside resort of St Ives. I serve as a member of the Truro Diocesan World Church Committee. I am very interested in issues concerning the third world. At present, after many visits, I am involved with trying to raise funds to build an orphanage in Malawi in the Diocese of Lake Malawi. This started off as a personal venture with others concerned with world mission. However several parishes within the Truro Diocese now raise funds and the Diocese of Truro has recently earmarked a donation from its world church budget. Truro Diocese is a fair trade Diocese. |
PRIORITIES OF THE WORLD CHURCH COMMITTEE:
- To draw awareness in all parishes the importance of being part of the world-wide church and to the fact that we are part of a global family that needs each other to exist.
- To draw awareness to government, church and society the importance of working to reduce global poverty
