(i) Harvest Appeal: The Annual Bishop of Derby's Harvest Appeal 2008 is in support of training of church members - lay and clergy - in the Sudan.  See www.derbyharvest.com for more details.

(ii) Annual Mini-Conference: Each year Derby Diocese, in co-operation
with other denominations and campaign groups, holds a mini-conference on a theme related to world development. Recent conferences have focussed on trade justice, peace in Israel/Palestine, Sub-Saharan Africa, international debt, and personal responses to world poverty. (iii) Fair Trade Diocese: The Derby Diocesan Synod has voted that the
Diocese should aim for Fair Trade status. The Diocese is still some way short of the achieving the number of fair trade churches (50 per cent of the total) which is required, but a new attempt to reach this target will be made in 2008.

(iv) Support for the Derby for Africa Initiative - this is a new campaign designed to highlight the lack of democracy in many African states, led by a group of Africans living in Derby, in partnership with other local people and organisations, including the churches.
