Partnership for Development

Consultation from High Leigh March 2009

The 2009 Ecumenical World Development Consultation -- “Partnership for Development” – was held from 18 to 20 March at The High Leigh Conference Centre in Hoddesdon, Herts. Approximately 60 Christians with an interest in or responsibility for development work within their denominational area attended.

The theme was taken from the eighth Millennium Development Goal, which speaks of “global partnership for development.” In keynote addresses and workshops, participants considered theological models for and examples of churches working with others – including churches, campaigning groups, NGOs, Government and business –  locally and internationally. The conference worship also included reflections on the nature of Christian partnerships for development.
